Privacy policy

TrueNAS Backups is a personal backup application operated by Mike Tantrum for his own authorised Google Drive account.

Access and purpose

The application requests Google Drive access to maintain offsite backups. It accesses file and folder metadata, including names, identifiers, sizes and modification information, to compare existing backups with local files. It creates folders and uploads or updates backup content. Authorised recovery operations may download backup files.

The requested Drive permission allows broader file management, including reading and deleting files. The current backup task is configured in copy mode rather than mirror mode: removing a local file does not instruct that task to remove its remote copy.

Storage and protection

Backup content is stored in the operator's Google Drive account. OAuth credentials and tokens are stored on the operator's server. Operational logs may contain filenames, transfer details and errors. Backup encryption depends on the backup workflow; this policy does not claim that every uploaded file is separately encrypted before upload.

Use and sharing

Google user data is used only for the operator's backup and recovery purposes. It is not sold, used for advertising, or used to train AI models. Google processes backup content as the storage provider. This public information website does not expose the backup contents or authorisation credentials.

TrueNAS Backups' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Retention and revocation

Backup copies remain until the operator removes them or applies a retention policy. Deleting a source file or revoking authorisation does not automatically delete existing backups. The operator can revoke access through their Google Account connections settings and delete stored backup copies through Google Drive.

This website and contact

These static pages contain no sign-in forms, analytics scripts or application cookies. Cloudflare hosts the pages and may process connection information, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the website.
